Buyers Assistant
Be the engine room of our Buying team! Track competitor prices, coordinate samples and sign-offs, crunch numbers and support Buyers in turning great products into BIG deals.
About Us
Step into the wild world of OneDayOnly – South Africa's OG daily deals hub. We're the pioneers of cool discounts, hitting you for just one day because, well, why overcomplicate things? We've got the big names, top suppliers, and a dash of our secret sauce to make you feel like a BIG DEAL. Not to brag, but we have over a million potential savvy shoppers getting our daily dose every 24 hours.
We're not fussy – if the price is right and the quality checks out, we're selling it. That's what makes us the go-to for both the smart buyer and the eager seller. Toss in the urgency of our deals, and boom, success happens quicker than you can blink. So, jump in, where FOMO meets killer deals, and let's turn every day into a retail party!
About You
You're the engine room of the buying pod. While the Buyers are out chasing the next big deal, you're the one making sure it actually goes live – loaded right the first time, signed off before cut-off, and backed by numbers that stand up to scrutiny. Spreadsheets don't scare you, deadlines give you a little thrill, and you'd rather double-check a price comparison than let an inflated deal slip through.
You're part detective (sniffing out competitor prices online and in-store before anyone asks), part air-traffic controller (samples, shipping timelines, cover images and sign-offs all landing on time), and part apprentice (shadowing our Buyers daily and soaking up everything about margin, cash flow and what makes a winning product).
If you're curious about product, love retail, and want a front-row seat to how direct imports go from supplier catalogue to South Africa's favourite deal of the day – this is your launchpad into buying.
Responsibilities:
Preparing prelims for the Buyers: gathering supplier catalogue data, running cost and competitor comparisons (C&Cs), and loading deals accurately onto the backend system.
Checking the commercial viability of proposed buy-ins – margin, volume, landed costs and stock risk – and presenting well-supported recommendations for sign-off.
Keeping deal data up to date and accurate across ASANA, Google Sheets and internal systems, and saving all deal screenshots and supporting documents to the correct Google Drive folders daily.
Owning the end-to-end sample process: requesting samples from suppliers, checking quality, tracking testing results and coordinating with the Studio team for photography.
Working with the FX and Sourcing teams to pull documentation, track shipping timelines and follow up on pending approvals for direct imports.
Running daily online market sweeps and regular in-store visits to track competitor pricing and spot new product, brand and range-gap opportunities.
Monitoring live deal performance (daily sales and sell-through rate), and assisting with replenishment lists and placement opportunities to move stock.
Making sure deals are loaded, checked and signed off before daily cut-offs, and that cover images reach Design on time.
Reviewing monthly returns reports and acting on feedback to protect deal quality and our customers' trust.
Providing admin support to the team: compiling spreadsheets, preparing for meetings, managing calendars, taking meeting notes and following up on emails, calls and action items.
Assisting with range showings, reviews and post-mortems to keep improving our buying decisions.
Shadowing the Buyers daily to learn the buying process and how decisions affect margin, cash flow, warehousing and customer experience.
