Executive Creative Director

We are looking for an experienced creative director who can set the creative vision and strategy for the business, working closely with the Head of Marketing, internal clients and project managers, to ensure that best practices and quality are maintained. Must have a proven track record working with big brands.

We are looking for a creative leader, who can assist in implementing a national creative strategy, and constantly drive both the quality of work being produced as well as the quality of experience of our creators within the business. It would be advantageous to have e-commerce experience.

key tasks as responsibilities:

  • A creative problem solver that is able to guide teams to deliver quality work within defined parameters, strict timelines and according to budget
  • Encouraging relationships amongst the business (directors and other stakeholders)
  • Drive creative strategy along Head of Marketing
  • Be the voice and face of creative excellence
  • Oversee and assist, where necessary, the direction and creation of creative work across multiple skillsets (design, video) and ‘clients’
  • Assist producers with developing accurate timelines for production projects bearing in mind the capabilities of team-members on hand, and ensure milestones are met
  • Assist producers with scoping projects where necessary
  • Assist the producers with guarding against delays, over-runs and any unforeseen costs by alerting them of potential threats to work completion
  • Assist with briefing junior team members on projects
  • Supervise and train junior team members and freelance staff where necessary
  • Oversee & collaborate with talent across multiple teams
  • Keeping abreast of and driving global trends within the creative industry and doing a monthly review back to the business on your findings
  • Driving expertise within team, ensuring work of a global standard is delivered
  • Looking for and fostering growth of young talent
  • Creative campaign conceptualization
  • Defining the creative vision and strategy for the brand
  • Translating briefs and strategic requirements into compelling creative solutions
  • Ensuring that the creative function operates efficiently
  • Pitching ideas confidently and presenting creative concepts
  • Must have good TTL experience


  • Work Structure & Management: Planning and executing high quality work that is on-time, correct and as per the brief
  • Technical Skills: Understanding all technical requirements related to the production and delivery of creative assets, as well as ensuring jobs stay within scope and budget.
  • Platforms: Must be highly adept in the full Adobe Creative Suite to adequately guide and oversee teams
  • Supplier Relationship: Ability to seek out and manage potential freelance talent
  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Team and Leadership Skills: Ability to work together and lead a large creative team, as well as help develop their skills and careers
  • Personal Development: Ability to manage and develop career within the company
  • Culture: Fulfilling role as part of the company and culture. Being a representative for the company and its values at all times


  • Must have agency experience and had exposure to digital channels
  • Applicable tertiary qualification
  • Relevant industry experience and proven experience in effectively managing a large team of creative talent
  • Communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Project management skills
  • Ability to lead by example as a senior member of staff, and be a leader that the creative team can look up to and emulate
  • Cape Town Based Role
  • 5+ years in a Creative or Executive director role & leading a team is required
